Truly European with work experience in France, Germany and the UK he also worked for ten years as a part-time editor for the renown travel guide Guide du Routard.

Nicolas founded Poke, Antirom, Hulger, Plumen and The Lovie Awards, all companies of note and all influential and innovative in their respective fields. These endeavours have all been recognised by international industry awards and critical acclaim. In 2006, Nicolas was appointed member of the Academy of Digital Arts and Sciences. He co-chairs Internet Week Europe, an annual, open-source festival that launched in London in November 2010, and is also the jury chair of The Lovie Awards, the pan-European award for outstanding achievement in the digital world. Nicolas is also cofounder and creative director of designer energy efficient lighting company Plumen, a company that now sells in over 75 markets and is making in-roads into smart lighting products and control systems. The Plumen 001 bulb design is in the MoMA, Cooper-Hewitt and V&A permanent design collections and has picked up some of the world’s most coveted design awards. He was included in the 2011 Adage Creative 50 and UK Wired 100 in 2011 and in 2012 was inducted into the first twenty figures of the inaugural BIMA Hall Of Fame. He also sits on the UK Superbrands Council and judges and chairs international design and digital awards worldwide. In 2014 he received the London Design Entrepreneur’s medal. Nicolas joined the Tech City Advisory board to the UK Government in 2012, attending regular meetings at Number 10 Downing Street. He jointly founded BL-NK, a multidisciplinary event space in Hackney and is board member of the Design Special Interest Group to the Technology Strategy Board of the UK Government.
